// PRINCIPLE 01

Privacy by architecture, not configuration.

We do not collect the content of your notes, lists, recordings or documents. Period. By default, every byte of personal data you create inside our Apps is stored locally on your device, in a sandboxed, encrypted database, accessible only to you.

If you choose to enable cross-device sync, the data is encrypted end-to-end with keys that only ever live on your devices. Our servers (when we operate any) see only opaque ciphertext — and we can prove it via regular third-party audits.

  • Local-first storage by default on every App
  • On-device machine-learning inference
  • End-to-end encryption for optional cloud sync
  • Zero ad-tech data brokers or data brokers
  • Open and auditable privacy posture

// PRINCIPLE 02

Procedural craftsmanship.

We have deep, hands-on experience with procedural generation: algorithmic composition for audio, generative geometry for visual design, time-series models for data visualisation, and stochastic systems for testing and resilience.

This is not "AI as a buzzword". This is engineering teams who understand signal processing, linear algebra, and the realities of running compute on battery-powered devices. It is also design teams who know how to use procedural systems to express brand identity without resorting to noise.

  • Generative audio engines (AudioKit, JUCE, SuperCollider)
  • Procedural visual systems (L-Systems, particle systems, signed distance fields)
  • Time-series modelling and forecasting
  • Deterministic random and seeded tests
  • Generative UI patterns and motion systems
// PRINCIPLE 03

A zen aesthetic, executed with rigour.

We believe software should feel calm, focused, and considered. That means: minimal chrome, generous whitespace, predictable motion, accessible colour contrast, and copy that respects the reader's time and intelligence.

Our internal design system — what we call "Field Notes" — defines a small set of components, tokens and motion primitives that we reuse across every project. That discipline is what lets us ship a 6-app product line that feels unmistakably the same studio.

  • Custom design system (Field Notes v3)
  • WCAG 2.2 AA compliance, audited per release
  • Motion principles grounded in physics, not whim
  • Typography stack: SF Pro / Inter / JetBrains Mono
  • Colour palettes derived from low-light environments

// THE PEOPLE

A small, senior, multi-disciplinary team.

We deliberately stay small. Every member of the team has 8+ years of industry experience across multiple domains, which means faster iteration, fewer misunderstandings, and a much higher signal-to-noise ratio in every conversation.

// TECHNOLOGY

Boring tools. Excellent results.

We choose proven, well-supported technologies and use them in unconventional ways. The stack is small enough to keep in your head; the leverage is large enough to ship a lot.
